Acer Extensa 5635

Saturday, 17 July 2010 10:15:33 AM Australia/Brisbane

The Acer Extensa 5635 is reasonable cheap at $589.00. The Acer Extensa 5635 is an entry-level laptop in the Extensa lineup. You can use it for personal work and business use. The laptop comes with 2GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive, and uses Intel's Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M as a video processor. It also has 5-in-1-memory card reader and built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. HP Compaq 6730B

Friday, 16 July 2010 11:10:14 AM Australia/Brisbane

The HP Compaq 6730b is a button-downed business notebook. There is not necessarily anything wrong with that. The strong system runs circles around lower-end models, secures data using fingerprint recognition, and supports the latest Wi-Fi standards. Plus, its battery life would make the Energizer Bunny jealous. It really is a comparably long battery life. But although suitable for suit-wearing travelers, the 6730b seems overpriced and underpowered, at least in the graphics department, compared with the similar Lenovo ThinkPad SL400. Stretching the definition of a thin-and-light, the 6730b weighs a hair under six pounds and measures 1.3x14x10.5 inches (HWD), a decent compromise for users who want a portable that's big enough to replace a desktop yet small enough to actually travel with. You can get it in any color you like, as long as it's matte-silver with a black keyboard. Dull, yes, but like a boring business suit with a splash of pocket-square color, the 6730b has one decorative bit of flair: an LED-lit, touch-sensitive strip of quick-launch and volume-control buttons. (It even works when the notebook is off. Simply tap the Info button to launch HP's QuickLook 2, which provides instant access to Outlook 2003/2007 data.)

HP Pavilion DV2500 Series

Friday, 16 July 2010 11:07:28 AM Australia/Brisbane

With the Pavilion dv2500, HP brings Intel's latest Centrino Duo platform to its popular 14.1-inch home laptop. The good things about the laptop are that is has a strong set of specs for price; performance almost matches that of more expensive laptops; attractive 14.1-inch display; dual headphone jacks and fingerprint reader; includes most of the ports and connections home users need. The bad things about the laptop are that it has average battery life with the standard six-cell battery; opting for an HDMI port means sacrificing a USB port. The bottom line is that the HP Pavilion dv2500 delivers an eye-catching case, a strong set of features, and solid performance at a lower price than competing systems. It is recommended for home use, school use, outside use, transportation use and you can take it with you anywhere you go. Be careful if the weather conditions are bad. You might not want to take your laptop outside in bad weather. The laptop has many new components, but much remains the same. The sleek, black-and-silver case still houses most of the features that a home user will want, all at a competitive price. The price is so competitive, in fact, that the $2,699 (US$1,960.91) review unit cost less than a similarly configured S$2,748 (US$1,996.51) Dell Inspiron 1420 (before online discount), but without the fancy touch-sensitive controls or mini remote. At that price, the company is willing to overlook the Pavilion dv2500's merely average battery life. If you want, you can easily buy an additional battery. You can recommend it for home users who want an inexpensive, media-friendly laptop.

Compaq CQ60

Tuesday, 15 June 2010 4:31:45 AM Australia/Brisbane

The Compaq CQ60 is available in many stores and it is also available in Walmart. The offering of the Compaq CQ60 at Walmart comes with a number of regular features but not as bleak as you would normally associate to a low priced machine. The 15.6-inch (1366 x 768 display) Notebook is powered by a 2.10GHz AMD Sempron processor. Other integrations include NVIDIA GeForce 8200M graphics along with a DVD burner and a Wi-Fi device factored in. This will definitely be a limited edition deal and some of the advertisements even suggest that bricks & mortar Walmart stores will have just ten of the notebook in stock. There are a lot more available on online.
